Imminent Tax Events
There are many financial events that can happen during a year that make charitable giving a wonderful option for avoiding unnecessary tax payments while increasing your donations to not-for-profits. If you have sold a business, inherited money, or had other capital gains that you’d like to offset, opening a fund at the Community Foundation can offer you several benefits.
  • Receive the tax benefit today, and give the money out to your favorite not-for-profits tomorrow, next year, or ten years from now. By making a donation to a donor-advised fund, you can deduct the full allowable amount of the gift in the current year without time restrictions on the distribution of the money.

  • While your charitable account is held as a part of the Community Foundation, it can continue to grow tax-free.

  • The Community Foundation is equipped to accept complicated gifts and complete sophisticated transactions quickly.
