In the next few years, $22 billion is expected to transfer from one generation to the next through probate estates. Over the next 50 years, the expected transfer for Central New York is estimated at $240 billion.
If just five percent of the projected transfer through 2019 could be invested at the Community Foundation in an endowed fund, nearly $1.1 million would be gained. Figuring a five percent (5%) grant payout, an estimated $55 million could be available annually to improve the quality of life in our community.
