$378,850 in Grants Will Support Local Organizations

The Central New York Community Foundation recently distributed $203,850 in Community Grants and $175,000 in LeadSafeCNY grants, totaling $378,850, to nonprofit organizations in Onondaga and Madison counties.

The Central New York Community Foundation recently distributed $203,850 in Community Grants and $175,000 in LeadSafeCNY grants, totaling $378,850, to nonprofit organizations in Onondaga and Madison counties. The funded projects fall into the areas of arts and culture, civic affairs, education, health, human services and the environment.

Community Grants

Alzheimer’s Association received $25,000 to maintain its 24/7 Support Line service that serves as a lifeline for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers needing support.

Catholic Charities received $49,250 to support the third year of its Dignity Works program, which provides job opportunities to individuals facing obstacles that make it difficult to find their way out of poverty.

On Point for College received $53,400 to provide career, college access and college success services for students.

SUNY Upstate Foundation received $15,000 to launch a program that promotes physical fitness for youth with vision impairments.

SUNY Upstate Foundation received $30,000 for year one of three to hire a nurse coordinator for its Pediatric Kidney Transplant and Chronic Kidney Disease Center.

SUNY Upstate Foundation received $31,200 to conduct research to determine the changes in cardio-respiratory functions during seizures

LeadSafeCNY Grants

Central/Eastern NY Lead Poisoning Resource Center received $25,000 to purchase Lead Care II Machines for medical practices that serve neighborhoods where elevated blood lead levels are high.

City of Syracuse received $150,000 to support the city –wide HUD lead remediation program.
