Darrell Buckingham has been promoted to senior program officer after serving as program officer for four years. In his role, Buckingham manages the Community Foundation’s Black Equity & Excellence Fund, LeadSafeCNY initiative and literacy efforts. He also works closely with nonprofits, community stakeholders and other funders to elevate historically excluded communities. Buckingham holds a bachelor of professional studies in business management from Cazenovia College and is currently pursuing a master of business administration at Le Moyne College. His past volunteer work includes serving as a member of the board of trustees and as chair of the equity and engagement committee for the Everson Museum, as second vice president of the board of directors for Vera House Inc., and as a member of the New York Health Foundation’s Food equity advisory committee. Darrell’s passion for equity and justice drives his work, making him a valuable partner in promoting positive change and building stronger communities.
Jenny Green has been promoted to director of information systems & strategy after serving as senior information systems officer for two years. In her role, she is responsible for recommending and implementing innovative technical strategies, while continuing to make an impact in her oversight of the Community Foundation’s information systems and cybersecurity. Green joined the Community Foundation in 2016, holds a master of science degree in information technology from Marist University and has over decade of experience in data management. Her visionary leadership will help ensure that the Community Foundation’s digital landscape remains secure, seamless and ready for the future.
Juliet Maloff has been promoted to director of communications after serving as senior communications officer for two years. Over her 11 years at the Community Foundation, Maloff has played a pivotal part in shaping and managing the organization’s brand and voice. In her current role, she leads efforts to raise awareness of the Community Foundation’s mission, services and impact through storytelling and public relations, while also serving on the extended leadership team.
Passionate about community change, Maloff contributes her time, resources and expertise to local nonprofits and community groups. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Jewish Federation of CNY and as co-chair of the Next Gen CNY committee. Her past service includes serving as president of the Public Relations Society of America’s CNY Chapter, as a member of the Sarah’s Guest House Gala Planning Committee and as a volunteer with the United Way’s Book Buddies program, the CNYSPCA and others. She also leads an annual donation drive, collecting hygiene items for students at Grant Middle School and food for local cat shelters.
Maloff has been recognized for her leadership and community contributions, receiving the CNYBJ 40 Under 40 award and the Pierson Four Under 40 award. She is as a graduate of FOCUS Greater Syracuse’s Citizens Academy and recently completed the Emergent Leader Training Program. Maloff earned a bachelor of science degree in communications from Syracuse University and master of science degree in public relations from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Pragya Murphy, CAP®, MBA has been promoted to director of development & impact investing after serving as senior philanthropic & impact investment advisor for three years. In her role, Murphy leads charitable planning for individuals, families and companies and provides outreach to the local professional advisor community and nonprofit organizations. Murphy oversees the financial advisor program, nonprofit agency fund administration and stewardship, and lifetime giving strategies. Additionally, she supports the impact investment program, guiding nonprofits interested in learning more about or applying for impact investments while also serving on the extended leadership team.
A passionate advocate for community development, Murphy has volunteered and served on numerous nonprofit boards, including Make-A-Wish of Central New York and the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP-CNY). She has also been a dedicated member of the WISE Women’s Business Center advisory board for the past seven years.
Murphy earned her Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) designation from the American College of Financial Services in 2021. She is an active member of the Estate Planning Council, of Central New York, Financial Planning Association of Central New York and the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners. In 2023, she completed the Emergent Leadership Training program. Additionally, as a 21/64 Certified Advisor, she utilizes specialized facilitation techniques and tools to foster meaningful conversations around values, legacy, generational dynamics, family wealth, and philanthropy, helping to engage individuals and families in charitable giving.
Cory Schad has been promoted to digital communications officer, after serving as senior events and communications manager for three years. During his time at the Community Foundation, Schad has planned and executed meaningful and impactful events, helping to foster strong relationships with key stakeholders and constituents. In his new role, he spearheads the development and implementation of a comprehensive digital communications strategy to engage diverse audiences across multiple platforms.
Prior to joining the Community Foundation, Schad served as assistant athletic director and head baseball coach at Cazenovia College, where he also earned a bachelor of professional studies in sport management. As a 2024 graduate of Leadership Greater Syracuse, Schad contributes his time and talents to the community, serving as a volunteer for Sarah’s Guest House. He resides in New Hartford, N.Y., with his wife Ashlea; their sons, Easton, 7, and Bryson, 5; and their dog, Beesly.
Qiana Williams has been promoted to senior program officer after serving as program officer for three years. Williams is a community connector working to power up historically excluded communities. In her role, Williams works toward systems change by centering resident voices and collaboration to build equity and opportunity through anti-poverty and participatory grantmaking initiatives, and by increasing capacity for grassroots and nonprofit organizations.
She has had the honor and privilege of being a humanities educator for the Syracuse City School District and has previously served as curator of public programs at the Everson Museum of Art and as education consultant for the Community Folk Art Center. She is a co-founding member of the Black Artist Collective CNY, a member of the Syracuse Onondaga Food System Alliance, and has volunteered for the Westcott Area Cultural Coalition performance committee. She is also a longtime member of the Wacheva Cultural Center dance troupe. A recent graduate of the Funders Network PLACES program, she was also honored with a 2025 Cuse Culture 40 Over 40 CNY Legacy Award. Williams is an alumna of Syracuse University, where she earned a master of arts degree in museum studies and a master of science degree in secondary social studies.
