New Grant Opportunity Launched for Organizations Seeking to Enhance DEI

A new grant opportunity is available to help nonprofit organizations enhance their efforts in diversity, equity, inclusion and action.

New funding is being offered by the Central New York Community Foundation to help nonprofit organizations operationalize diversity, equity and inclusion. Internal Diversity Equity & Action (IDEA) grants will support projects that create and sustain an equitable and inclusive workplace and service delivery.

Examples of eligible projects include cultural competency work with staff and/or board, leadership consultation, training for managers, audits of policies and practices and incorporation of DEI in strategic and/or financial planning. 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organizations, publicly supported organizations and organizations using a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor that serve residents of Onondaga and Madison counties are eligible.

IDEA grant applications are accepted year-round. Applying organizations should have done some initial staff or board training around structural racism, engaged in efforts to diversify their staff and/or board, participated in Intercultural Development Inventory or other assessment (IDI) at the staff and/or board levels, or other such activities.

Prospective applicants are asked to discuss their grant request by contacting Danielle Johnson at (315) 883-5554 or djohnson@cnycf.org before beginning the application process. Visit the IDEA grants page for more information.
