The Peckhams

The Peckhams live by the motto that you make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give.

The Peckhams live by the motto that you make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give. There are two ways they want to give back purposefully: during their life and then again through their estate when they’re gone. The say we have made it possible for them to do both.

The couple set up a donor-advised fund with us to make grants to the causes they care about.

“The process of setting up and utilizing our fund has been seamless and the Community Foundation staff is always responsive,” said Ron. “It gives us comfort knowing that our money is being well stewarded.”

The Peckhams have three children and consider their fund to be their fourth “adopted child”. The proceeds of their estate will be divided equally between the four of them. By doing this, they will be able to support the community that is important to them while still leaving more than enough to their children.

“It is important to us and our children to carry on our multi-generational tradition of giving,” said Ron. “This is in alignment with our wish for making Central New York the best that it can be.”

The Peckhams deeply about the Central New York community and hope that the grants from their fund will make a significant impact in the long-term.

“We know that by leaving our legacy to the Community Foundation, our wishes will be carried out in perpetuity,” said Ron. “We hope others will be encouraged to do what they can to make the community a better place for today and future generations.”
