When a large group of fruit and vegetable growers, organized through a cooperative called Pro-Fac, learned they would receive a payout from the sale of Birds Eye Foods, many of the members saw this as an opportune time to set aside funds in support of leadership development for the food and agricultural industry in New York through the LEAD NY program. LEAD NY is a two-year leadership development program for professionals in the food and agricultural industry. Several Pro-Fac board, committee and staff members are LEAD NY alumni and all Pro-Fac members have benefitted from the leadership that these graduates have provided to the cooperative. These members wish to provide LEAD NY with a consistent annual source of revenue through this designated fund.
