On July 3, 1998, Central New York lost one of its biggest supporters, Dorothy Crouse Witherill. She cared deeply for the greater Syracuse community and supported institutions and organizations concerned with education, human services and the arts. Her will provided for an unrestricted bequest to create this permanent fund that provides annual gifts to Le Moyne College as a reminder of her generosity.
