Community Foundation Announces New Black Equity & Excellence Council Member

The Central New York Community Foundation welcomes a new Black Equity & Excellence Fund advisory council member: Michael Jennings, wealth consultant at Brackens Financial Solutions Network, LLC.

The Central New York Community Foundation welcomes Michael Jennings as a new member of its Black Equity & Excellence Fund advisory council to serve a three-year term.

The advisory council reviews grant proposals, makes funding recommendations, and identifies gaps and opportunities to advance a more equitable and economically inclusive Central New York. Council members represent a cross-section of industries, lived experiences and perspectives.

Launched in 2020, our Black Equity & Excellence Fund supports community-based projects that center, uplift, and serve Black communities in Central New York by addressing economic and social disparities caused by historic marginalization. The fund is dedicated to fostering self-sufficiency, economic development, and community empowerment.

Jennings currently serves as wealth consultant at Brackens Financial Solutions Network, LLC.

A lifelong resident of Syracuse, Jennings has worked in the financial industry since 2019. He is a 2016 graduate of Syracuse University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and forensic science. Driven by a desire to help others gain greater control over their financial futures, Jennings transitioned into financial planning and has worked alongside Vicki Brackens since 2021. He believes everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve financial freedom and uses his role to advocate for his clients and the broader Central New York Community.

Jennings is deeply engaged in community service. He currently serves as treasurer of the Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency (OCRRA) Board of Directors and as a board member of CNY Lyme Alliance and David’s Refuge. He also volunteers as co-chair of the Red Shoe Society for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central New York, as co-leader of the Syracuse University CNY Alumni Club, as a member of the David’s Refuge Advisory Committee and as a CenterState CEO Ambassador.

In addition, Jennings shares his financial expertise as the “Friendly Neighborhood Advisor” on Inspiration for the Nation with George Kilpatrick, airing Sundays at 9 a.m. on iHeart Power 620 and YouTube.
