Jim & Harriet Keysor LeChander Educational Fund

James (Jim) LeChander graduated from Monroe High School in Rochester, New York. He served as a teacher at Cato-Meridian High School and then as a teacher and administrator in the Miami-Dade Public School System in Miami, Florida. Jim’s wife, Harriet Keysor LeChander, was a graduate of Cato-Meridian High School. Like her husband, Harriet worked at Cato-Meridian High School and Miami-Dade Public Schools as a long-term non-instructional employee. Education held an important place in their hearts.

Harriet created this fund through her estate to award scholarships based on need and demonstrated ability to graduating seniors at the Cato-Meridian Central School. The LeChanders intent was that awards will enable students to pursue advanced training in academics, technology, trades or other areas, and provide opportunities that would otherwise be beyond their means.

Requirements
Applicants must be graduating from Cato-Meridian High School, have financial need, demonstrated ability to succeed, and will be attending college/university or trade school to pursue advanced training in academics, technology, trades or other areas. Two scholarships can be awarded and are renewable up to four years, pending the recipient provides proof of enrollment.
