DEAR FRIENDS,

As we sit in our 99th year, we find ourselves reflecting on the moments that matter most. Beneath every milestone — a goal achieved, a project completed, an anniversary reached — are the quieter moments that make them possible. Each gift, grant, proposal, and dream begins with a human connection, one that grows into a shared purpose and, ultimately, a call to action. At the heart of it all are relationships — with donors, community partners, fellow funders, and every individual whose path crosses ours. These connections shape our work and define our impact.

In a world that can feel increasingly divided, how we choose to show up matters. The question before us is simple, but powerful: how do we continue to do better, together?

Courage. Resilience. Respect. Kindness. Love. These are more than ideals — they are the forces that move our community forward. We see them in the organizations we support, leaning in with boldness and determination to create meaningful change. We hear them in the voices of our grantees, donors, and podcast guests, many of whom have faced extraordinary challenges and still rise with strength and purpose. Their willingness to share their stories is an act of trust — and a reminder of our responsibility to listen, to learn and to amplify.

In meeting this moment, we return to a simple truth: light dispels darkness, and love leaves no space for hate. The organizations and donors we partner with reflect what is best in all of us — a shared commitment to doing what matters and building a stronger, more connected community. As we approach our 100th year, we are more committed than ever to lifting up these stories and bringing them vividly to life.

Together, we can ensure that Central New York is a place where love not only resides, but thrives — in our living rooms and libraries, our kitchens and community centers, our schools and shared spaces. Let’s carry it into our work, nurture it in our neighborhoods, and extend it to one another in ways both big and small. When we do, we create a community where everyone belongs.
