New CNYCF Scholarship Application System is Now Open

Our new “Universal Application” offers students a streamlined way to apply for scholarships, transforming the process from an overwhelming task into a manageable one.

We are excited to announce that the Central New York Community Foundation’s new scholarship application system is officially live! Students may begin completing the universal scholarship application from March 4 – April 25, 2025.

Introducing the Universal Application: A Better Experience for Students

Our new “Universal Application” offers students a streamlined way to apply for scholarships, transforming the process from an overwhelming task into a manageable one. Here’s how the universal application will benefit both students and committee members:

  • One Application, Multiple Opportunities: Students can now complete a single application that automatically matches them with all scholarships they’re eligible for. This means no more guessing or hunting down each scholarship individually.
  • Easier Navigation: This application process removes the burden on students to seek out scholarships they might qualify for; instead, they can focus on presenting their achievements and aspirations.
  • Streamlined Evaluation for Committees: Committee members won’t need to actively search for eligible students. You can simply direct them to our website, where the system will ensure they’re matched to the scholarships they qualify for.

Key Facts About the New Scholarship Process

  1. Centralized Application: Students must complete the universal application to be considered for scholarships managed by CNYCF. Once they apply, the system will automatically match them with all scholarships that align with their qualifications.
  2. Committee Access and Privacy: Each committee member will only see applicants assigned to the scholarships they are responsible for evaluating, ensuring privacy and a focused review process.
  3. Improved Efficiency and Fairness: The new system will help our office work more efficiently, build stronger engagement with donors, and ensure scholarship opportunities are awarded fairly and equitably.
  4. Bias Reduction: The universal application and cloud-based system will help limit potential biases in the review process by standardizing the application flow and criteria matching.
  5. Single Deadline: All scholarships will now share a single deadline (April 25, 2025), simplifying the timeline for both applicants and committee members.

Important Updates for Committees

  • All scholarship information on our website has been updated to reflect this new process.
  • Notification mailings have been sent to the committee chairperson/main point of contact we have on record. This includes details on the scholarships your committee manages, the number of awards and award amounts.
  • If your committee has not received this information, please contact our scholarship team at scholarship@cnycf.org.
  • We will be reaching out soon with details on the evaluation process and when committees can begin assessing applications.

We are thrilled to introduce this streamlined system and appreciate your support in spreading the word to students. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out at scholarship@cnycf.org or call (315) 883-5555.
