We were delighted to announce the recipient of our third Partner in Philanthropy Award at our annual advisor reception on Tuesday, May 12. The Partner in Philanthropy Award honors estate planning attorneys, financial advisors, tax accountants and life insurance professionals who place philanthropy at the heart of their service. These individuals have guided many clients in achieving their charitable goals – whether during their lifetime or as part of a lasting legacy. Through their commitment, they help foster a culture of giving across Central New York.
It is our utmost pleasure to honor Karin Sloan DeLaney with this year’s Partner in Philanthropy award. We have been fortunate to collaborate with Karin on numerous charitable gifts that benefit our community. Her thoughtful and expert guidance encourages clients with philanthropic intentions to consider tax-efficient planned giving strategies, ensuring their generosity has lasting impact.
Karin is a Member of Bousquet Holstein PLLC, working in the firm’s Syracuse office with the Trusts & Estates Practice Group. With 30 years of experience, she counsels clients in all aspects of estate planning and administration, including the preparation of wills and trusts, estate tax planning, long-term care planning, and business succession planning. Before joining Bousquet Holstein, Karin was the founding member and sole practitioner of Sloan DeLaney, PC, a boutique trusts and estates law firm in Baldwinsville, New York. Prior to building her Central New York practice, she began her career handling high-net-worth estate planning at a prominent New York City law firm. She is a frequent author and lecturer on the intricacies of estate planning.
Karin’s commitment to the Central New York community is evident through her extensive nonprofit and civic involvement. She is a former Board Member of the Central New York Community Foundation and currently serves on its Professional Advisor Council. She has also served as a Past Board Member of the Visiting Nurses Association/Nascentia and Home Aides of Central New York and several local community organizations in her hometown of Baldwinsville.
Professionally, Karin is a member of the New York State Bar Association’s Trusts and Estates and Elder Law Sections, a member of the Estate Planning Council of CNY, and holds membership in the Greater Baldwinsville and Greater Liverpool Chambers of Commerce. She has been recognized as an Upstate New York Super Lawyer and received the Advisor of the Year award from the American Cancer Society (Northeast Region) in 2017.
Personally, Karin is a hometown Syracuse native who will always root for the Orange and believe in the power of community. Married to another Syracuse native, her husband Joel, she is the very proud mother of two sons. She keeps herself honest and centered by spending as much time as possible with her off-the-track Standardbred horse named John.
