Oswego County Community Foundation Awards $27,040 To Local Nonprofits

Twelve local nonprofit groups received grants totaling $27,040 from the Oswego County Community Foundation.

Twelve local nonprofit groups received grants totaling $27,040 from the Oswego County Community Foundation (“OCCF”).

ARISE Child and Family Service received $1,300 for the ARISE Oswego County Ramp Program, which provides residents of Oswego County access to their homes and community.

ARTSwego received $500 to present a special concert highlighting the Achievements of Women in Music, comprised of Pulitzer Prize winning women composers and designed as part of a multifaceted celebration of the NY Women’s Suffrage Centennial.

Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County received $5,000 to improve mental health, advocacy and forensic interview facilities in its Pulaski satellite location to better serve children and families who are victims of crime.

CNY Arts Center received $2,750 to support renovations to the Center’s newly purchased building, which will house Fulton’s first Community Arts Center.

Friends of Oswego County Hospice received $500 to strengthen its volunteer program through outreach, volunteer recruitment, training and support.

Fulton Family YMCA received $5,000 to assist with the support and expansion of Girls Rock, a program for young girls in Oswego County ages 8-18 to foster self-esteem, confidence, relationships and leadership skills.

Oswego Bookmobile received $1,500 to purchase books and supplies to make the program more accessible to children with special needs.

Oswego County Pioneer Search and Rescue Team received $2,340 to acquire additional emergency personnel paging equipment for new search and rescue team members.

Oswego Players received $2,400 for the Theater Arts Youth Academy, a one-year program sponsored by the Oswego Players and the Art Association of Oswego to engage youth from 10 to 20 years old in all aspects of theatre arts performance and production.

Oswego YMCA received $1,250 to support the construction of a connector from the Armory building to the building that houses its pool.

Pregnancy Care Center of Oswego County received $2,000 to provide diapers, wipes and baby furniture to clients.

United Friends of Homeless Animals received $2,500 to support veterinary costs to help more animals.

These grants were made possible with support from the Oswego County Community Foundation, A. L. Lee Memorial Hospital Health Fund, NBT Bank Fund and The Emerick Fund.

The Oswego County Community Foundation, created in 2013, is a geographically specific fund created to serve as a source of permanent charitable dollars available to nonprofits serving residents of Oswego County. Grants are awarded from the endowment fund annually to aid vital programs in education, health, social services, the arts, civic and environmental concerns, as well as the preservation of historic resources in Oswego County.
