Oswego County Community Foundation Awards Nearly $34,000 to Local Nonprofits

$33,910 has been distributed to organizations in Oswego County!

Eleven local nonprofit groups received grants totaling $33,910 from the Oswego County Community Foundation (OCCF).

The Oswego County Community Foundation, created in 2013, is a geographically-specific fund created to serve as a source of permanent charitable dollars available to nonprofits serving residents of Oswego County. The Fund has awarded more than $220,000 to support community-based projects and programs since inception.

Desens House received $2,500 to provide regular, professional cleaning services to women in recovery residing in transitional housing.

Erin’s Angels of CNY received $4,000 to provide a food assistance program to students in the Phoenix Central School District through their weekly backpack program.

Farnham Foundation received $2,500 to support the marketing and promotion of fund development efforts through social and print media.

Friends of Great Bear received $3,615 to support the installation of two interpretive panels which aim to better inform the public of the natural area they are experiencing at Great Bear.

Fulton Community Basketball received $5,000 to purchase equipment for the inaugural season this fall featuring two full-sized outdoor recreational basketball courts.

Kristina’s House of Hope received $5,000 to purchase furnishings and supplies for transitional housing, helping to provide immediate assistance to women experiencing homelessness.

Oswego County Pioneer Search and Rescue Team received $2,500 to support a public education campaign to increase enrollment in Project Lifesaver, a tool that uses electronic transmitters to locate people who are prone to wandering due to autism, dementia, and other cognitive disorders.

Restore CNY received $2,500 to support staffing costs of the North Country Hub in the Town of Hastings.

The KEYS Program received $2,000 to support the Smile Experience Respite Family Day program for pediatric cancer patients and their families.

Weston T. Hyde Oswego County Educational Foundation received $1,795 to cover administrative costs associated with the initiation of an annual fundraising event.

Your Nuhorizons received $2,500 to support transportation costs, allowing the Nuhorizons Redistribution Center program to be more accessible to Oswego County residents.
