Richard and Robert Scolaro

“The expertise of the Community Foundation’s staff is second to none.”

As people go about their daily lives – addressing the demands of work, home and family – Richard Scolaro and his son, Robert, believed that many don’t realize the struggles local nonprofits are facing to keep their vital services going. That was the case for Richard and Robert before they served on our board of directors. But both agreed that support from our donors helps programs of all sizes to change lives in their own communities.

When Robert meets with clients who express an interest in charitable giving, he often presents the option of establishing a donor-advised fund with us instead of a private foundation. This allows a donor to direct grants to the organizations they want to support, but without the extensive paperwork and costs associated with maintaining their own foundation.

“The expertise of the Community Foundation’s staff is second to none,” said Robert. “Their knowledge of the community and complex giving tools helps my clients easily identify their charitable goals. For clients who want to give assets to charity, the Community Foundation is the number one option.”
