Kimberly P. Sadowski, CPA, Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Message from the CFO

Meeting the moment requires more than responding to today’s needs. It requires preparing for tomorrow’s opportunities.

This year, the Community Foundation reached an important milestone as assets under our stewardship surpassed $500 million for the first time in our history. While that number is significant, it is not the measure of our success. What matters most is what those resources make possible. During the past fiscal year, we distributed nearly $32 million in grants to support nonprofits, students and initiatives that are strengthening communities throughout Central New York.

These results reflect the power of long-term philanthropy and the trust that donors, fundholders and community partners place in the Community Foundation. They also reflect a disciplined approach to managing charitable resources. Through changing market conditions and economic uncertainty, our focus remains on balancing current community needs with the responsibility to preserve and grow resources for future generations. As we turn toward tomorrow and approach our centennial year, we are thinking not only about the assets we steward, but also about the institutions, organizations and people that will shape our region’s future. From investing in nonprofit capacity and leadership development to expanding our reach across the region, we are helping build the foundation for long-term community success.

Every fund entrusted to us represents a charitable purpose and a donor’s vision for a stronger community. Honoring that intent remains at the heart of our work. Whether resources are deployed today or invested for future impact, our responsibility is the same: to steward them wisely and thoughtfully.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. It is a privilege to help ensure that today’s generosity creates opportunities for tomorrow.
