Dianne Apter grew up in Silver Springs, MD, moving to Syracuse in the late 60s when her husband attended Syracuse University for graduate school. Although having only lived in Syracuse for a short time, she developed a deep love of the community, which she referred to as her ‘true home.’
Dianne worked in the human service field most of her adult life. She began her career at Syracuse University where she held roles as a teacher and director of the Early Childhood Direction Center. Dianne later started her own business called Apter & O’Connor Associates.
Dianne maintains active involvement within the Central New York community, including as board president for the Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation and board member of Contact Community Services. She created this fund to provide support for the areas of poverty and economic development.
