The Pluff family at their home

The Pluffs

“The Community Foundation is helping us provide other children with the invaluable gift of hearing.”

The Pluffs’ daughters were both born prematurely and the extensive testing that they received uncovered that they each had moderate to severe hearing loss in both ears. During the couple’s quest for answers after this discovery, they were struck by the frequency of hearing loss in children and the shortage of services and assistive technology available to families. Access to the early intervention program was key to helping their girls adapt so well.

The pair established a field-of-interest fund at the Community Foundation so that other families would have an easier time finding the support and answers they need to give their special needs children a strong start. They stated that our professional fund management and knowledge of nonprofits gives them comfort that their fund will be able to help others for generations to come.

“Our girls wouldn’t be who they are today without the services they have been fortunate to receive,” said Dan Pluff, a local financial advisor. “The Community Foundation is helping us provide other children with the invaluable gift of hearing.”
