Junior Achievement

Junior Achievement’s apprenticeship program gives high school students the valuable opportunity to explore a future career before entering college.

Junior Achievement’s apprenticeship program gives high school students the valuable opportunity to explore a future career before entering college. Through summer internships with local businesses, students sample their intended career by working in the field alongside a mentor. They learn to handle responsibility, develop good work habits and expand their problem-solving skills while building a strong resume for their college applications. In turn, the internships are showcasing the local job opportunities available right here in Central New York, encouraging talented youth to stay in the area.

Local businesses that partner with the program are finding it valuable to their operations as well – helping them develop employee training programs and identify talented future employees. A Community Foundation grant provided marketing support that helped Junior Achievement recruit more businesses to offer internships.
